Malika Favre has come up with a brilliant series of posters for the 2015 British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards. Each uses a hard light source and cleverly shaped shadows to tell the story of the film in question.
Huge HT to Its Nice That for bringing these graphics to our attention!
We are beyond impressed at how Favre was able to create such descriptive images of these films, each completely different from the other, while still maintaining a coherent visual message and theme. The colors and details are perfect.
We were particularly struck by the poster for “The Theory Of Everything“, the 2014 film based on the book by Stephen Hawking’s first wife, Jane Wilde Hawking dealing with the early years of their relationship. The young couple on the bicycle, him looking serious, her looking joyful, the moonlight, and ultimately, the tragic shadow that is cast. Just stunning.
Here are the others. Equally stunning. If you are a movie buff, you should be able to recognize the references.
This series gives us inspiration for some custom binder projects. We can envision a series of custom turned-edge binders with graphics in this style, each different, but maintaining visual cohesion. This would be a perfect solution for a company that issues catalogs in various volumes.
